Essential winter care tips for your horse

By Mark James

Provide your horses with a clean and safe surroundings. The floor of their shelter should be free of ice, snow or mud.

Ice can make walking hard and unsafe for horses, as it can be very slippery. Slipping on ice might cause painful injuries like bruises, sprains and lacerations. To prevent this, keep the walkways and paths shoveled and salted or sanded.

Snow can hide likely ditches, rocks or other obstacles on the road that can make your horse trip. Not only is it difficult to walk trough, it also causes blockages to pathways and doorways. Ensure that no drifts block these paths, as you never know when you will have to pass by it in an emergency.

It is in wet and cold season that fungal bacteria accumulate the most, which might cause skin infection in the lower leg of a horse, a condition referred to as 'scratches'. Horses that are exposed for long periods in rain or sleet fall with no opportunity to dry their thick winter coats can suffer rain rot, another skin infection.

Supply their shelters with a wind-break. A three-sided lean-to can offer adequate protection from the most of wind, snow and ice, but cannot keep out the cold. Do your best to provide your horses warmer surroundings. If possible, take them indoors to enclosed boarding facilities.

Increase the hay consumption of your horse. Digestion can generate heat that enables horses to stay warmer. Make sure that the hay they eat provides most nutritional benefits to maintain healthy body weight through the winter season.

Always provide fresh water for your horse. Ensuring adequate water intake in winter can be tricky, as some horses don't like to drink cold water, making their intake decrease, or that the water gets too frozen to drink at all. Decreased water intake can lead to dehydration and impaction colic. Give them warm water at every feeding time. If the water surface keeps getting frozen, consider installing a stock tank heater to keep them warm. Use rubber water buckets instead of plastic ones, as the latter are most likely to break if they get frozen.

Provide your horses a resilient blanket, if you think they are not getting enough heat. Blankets should be well-maintained and fits your horse properly. Conduct daily grooming to ensure that there is no chaffing and irritation on your horse's skin. Regular grooming keeps the horse's coat clean and comfortable under the blanket.

Keep up proper hoof care. There is a possible risk of chipping or cracking if your horse is unshod, as ice may build up in their hooves as well as mud and manure. Keep the hooves clipped to hold less snow and provide better grip on slippery ground.

How Cheap Amsterdam Hotels Can Be?

By Jetse Holland

Show me a person who doesn't want to travel and see the world, and I bet you there's something wrong with him. Humans are like this: they want to travel, they want to see new places, and amongst all, Europe has great touristic objectives. Amsterdam is one of the cities in Europe which lives out of tourism.

Finding cheap hotels in Amsterdam should not be a problem for anybody, if you make your bookings at least one month ahead your trip.

There are several cheap hotels in the central area of Amsterdam. They are suitable for people who want to make the most out of their vacation and visit as many touristic objectives as possible. Bema hotel and Ibis hotel are only two examples of inexpensive but comfortable lodging.

If all cheap hotels are booked, you have an alternative chance of seeing Amsterdam for cheap: to stay in a hostel. It is true that you'll have to sleep in the same room with more people, but if you don't mind this aspect, you'll be fine. Make sure you have your pajamas with you, if you choose to stay in a hostel.

Although they are situated in very old buildings, many hotels in the central area of Amsterdam have been renovated, so they offer modern conditions. Some hotels were bought by foreign investors, who are now advertising to tourists from they native country. Such hotels are usually cheap. An example is Bema hotel.

Enjoying a cheap trip means that you have to take care of many additional things, not only finding inexpensive accommodation. Transport means are very important, as you won't want to spend your money on cabs. Study a public transportation map of the city before booking your hotel.

Amsterdam is crossed by a multitude of canals, which partly make the beauty of this old city, the capital of Holland. Take a boat ride and enjoy watching the buildings as you pass by them. It's a lot of fun and not very expensive.

Pontoon Boats For The Beginner

By Jacob Glorian Denzel Abbeesh Ronald Callingforn Tom Ryan

If you are thinking about purchasing a boat you might want to look into pontoon boats. There are many reasons for this, and there are many pros into buying a pontoon boat compared to other types of boats. The biggest plus in my opinion is you get more square footage per dollar than any other kind of boat that is out there.

The reason that there is so much room on a pontoon boat is that the deck is flat from aft to stern. Under the flat deck are 2 or 3 pontoons, which are cylinder shaped metal barrels that keep the boat buoyant.

If you have a boat that has two pontoons then it is mainly designed for slow cruising, but if you add an extra one this will help the speed of the boat increase and make sharper turns. So if you think that you will be using your pontoon boat for various types of water sports you may want to spend the extra money to get a pontoon boat with three pontoons.

If you like to have a good time and party, then the pontoon boat is the perfect boat for you. You can party with your friends and family out on the water, and since there is so much extra room compared to other boats, there is room for plenty of party supplies and people.

The extra deck space that pontoon boats offers a great amount of customizing that can be done. Some of the things that you can add to a pontoon boat are sundecks, furniture like couches and seats, carpet, and many other things.

Another thing pontoon boats can be used for is fishing. This is a great boat to learn how to fish on, you will have plenty of room to cast the rod and reel, and because of the flat shape of the boat the rocking back and forth is restricted, making it easier to cast and reel in fish.

Pontoon boats that are made for fishing could have things like spot lights, which would be great for night fishing, trolling motors, multiple rod holders, and even built in live wells to keep your live bait good.

Some disadvantages to having a pontoon boat are that they are not built to handle rough seas. Since they are flat shaped all the way around they cannot withstand waves well that are over a couple of feet. So going out into the ocean on a pontoon boat is not recommended.

Enjoyable And Healthy Trampoline Exercises

By Jane Bracken

Lately I realized that my usual workout routine was a little boring. As a mother in my prime years, it is necessary for me to exercise in a manner that matches my lifestyle. Getting to the fitness center was difficult as well.

I asked a friend of mine who is very fit what she does to stay in shape, and she said that she works out almost every day by running in place on a small trampoline that she keeps in her living room. I guess I'm the last one to find out, but one of the best ways to have fun and get fit at the same time is with trampoline workouts.

Trampolines provide a workout that is superior and safer than other forms of exercise. Running is a popular exercise, but hitting the track everyday takes its toll on the body. Joint and muscle problems are very common, especially in the feet and knees.

However, trampoline workouts provide a safer exercise alternative by allowing the trampoline to absorb the energy of repetitive movements, instead of your joints. When exercising with a trampoline the springs in the trampoline allow you get a full workout without the impact of running on hard surfaces.

One of the best things about a trampoline is that it will entertain and amuse your little ones for the entire day. We all know it can be tough keeping the kids busy. They will be getting a fun and fit workout and the kids probably will not realize that they are getting exercise as well. Promoting a healthy, active lifestyle to your children will serve them well when they grow to be healthy, active adults.

Most of us are accustomed to the bigger trampolines that you see behind the homes in your neighborhood. On of my neighbors when I was growing up, Gary H., installed one that was 16 feet across. Gary had to be one of the most popular people in the area! These bigger trampolines are loads of enjoyment for people of all ages.

But trampolines come in a variety of sizes. Many people find that a smaller trampoline with a handle makes for an ideal piece of home exercise equipment. A smaller trampoline can easily be carried, and stores away easily when not in use.

I feel wound up and excited to go about my every day routine after a trampoline workout. We all know that it is important to stay fit, but finding the proper workout regimen that satisfies our needs can be difficult. I, for one, am grateful to my friend for giving me this great advice, and I anticipate a long life of fit and fun workouts on my trampoline.
