Booking Airport Transfers in the UK

By reklicom

Considering types of transfer from one airport to another it is always a question of money, time and comfort. More we spend faster we get there and in a comfortable limousine. Less money we have, longer the journey is and probably less 'cosy'. I will start with the most comfortable option which is, in my opinion, the cheapest when three persons or more are considered to travel.

Private Transfer from Gatwick to Heathrow "TAXI:With three or more of you private transfer is the option to focus on. Transfers cost approx. 60-70GBP for up to 4passengers. It gets slightly more expensive for more passengers as bigger cars have to be used, but is still relatively cheap, even comparing it to coach prices, where for 5 of you you would have to pay 100GBP and would be traveling with 50 other people with no room for legs etc. It takes approx. an 1hour to get from Gatwick to Heathrow (transfer time depends on road traffic). Drivers wait for passengers at arrivals which helps a lot when you don't know the airport, and saves precious time. You may want to get a quote and/or book private transfer Gatwick - Heathrow (taxi service).

Planning ahead on how to get there can save you a lot of time, money and stress. What are the benefits of planning ahead with airport transfers?Save time - pre-booking avoids the hassle of queuing up for tickets and it ensures you get off to a smooth organised start, making the beginnings of your trip to be a far less stressful experience.

Guarantee your place - pre-booking ensures that you aren't left stranded by not being able to get that bus or taxi when you need it. At peak times it's often the case that taxi's and buses are hard to come by, so it's a good idea to avoid any stress by guaranteeing that you will get picked up or met on your return.

Airport coach or bus - All UK airports will have a local bus service, so this is the ideal option if you live close enough to the airport to take advantage of it. There are also national coaches that operate to all the major airports.Plane - There are many services now available from local airports to gateways such as Heathrow, Birmingham, Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow.

Rail: A large amount of UK airports have direct rail services. Airports with their own rail stations include Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted, Birmingham, Glasgow Prestwick and Southampton. Connecting bus services are available from Heathrow, Luton, East Midlands, Humberside and Glasgow International.

Avoid travelling on your own: There is safety in numbers, so traveling with a companion minimizes your risks and makes it much less likely that you will ever encounter a potential problem.Ensure your safety outside the taxi.: When you get to your destination, ask the driver to wait and watch until you are safely inside or ask to be let out in a well-lit area where there are plenty of people.

If you pre-book your taxi check that the taxi that arrives is the one you booked. Ask the Operator for a description of the car and check these details when the vehicle arrives. It would be good practice to also ask for the name of the driver beforehand.

The time usually taken for London airport to town transfers depends on the distance of London airport to town. For instance it takes 35 to 60 minutes from London Heathrow Airport to town and it takes 55 to 75 minutes from London Gatwick Airport to town. This time duration also depends on the traffic on the roads especially during peak hours.

In 2005 when we were younger she asked me if I was about to take off but I felt more like landing and couldn't confirm her allusions. To get ther you will need a postcode which is not easy to find. It is located near Redhill in Essex, RH6 0NP which is only 25 miles from London city. Every animal likes to travel and stay in the 5 star hotels. We are no different.

Nicklaus

By Denise I Smithson

Jack Nicklaus, also called "The Golden Bear" was a remarkable man even as a child. The son of a Columbus, Ohio pharmacist, Nicklaus beat polio as a child and went on to become of the greatest golfers ever to step onto the green. At the age of ten, Nicklaus began golfing and by the time he was 13, he had already broken 70 playing 18 holes.

When only 16, Nicklaus won the 1956 Ohio Open and won the US Amateur in 1959 and 1961. He came in second in 1960, to no less a player than Arnold Palmer. He would make up for this by playing on the Eisenhower Trophy winning team and establishing a as yet unbroken 269 score in four rounds that year.

Nicklaus was playing on the pro circuit by 1962, when he won his first US Open. Defeating Arnold Palmer in this tournament made him a household name overnight. He would win the Masters twice in the 1960's even though it would be 1970 before he would win his next US Open. He took nine more major titles in the 1970s, breaking the 13 title record held by Bobby Jones. His last major tournament can in 1986, when he was 46; the oldest player to win this tournament.

He joined the Senior PGA Tour in 1990, where he racked up 10 wins by 1996 - eight of which were major tournament wins. His made his last Senior PGA tournament appearances in 2005. However, he has stayed active in the sport, writing on the subject, designing courses and even holding his own PGA tournament, the Memorial tournament. Hi runs one of the world's leading golf course design firms and has written autobiographical titles as well as instructional works on playing the Nicklaus way.

Perhaps Nicklaus' popularity came with golf's popularity when he beat Arnold Palmer in 1962 at Oakmont in the US Open. With the emergence of television, Jack's charisma, good looks, and true rivalry with Palmer attracted many viewers to golf-something they hadn't seen before on TV. He won an unheard of prize money of $60,000 in 1962 and reached third place on the tour's money list, and named Rookie of the Year. In 1963, one of his best years, he won the Masters and the PGA Championship.

Nicklaus was always known as a record setter, having set a record for lowest score in the last 36 holes during the1964 British Open and a 1965 Masters-winning 271. This record stood until 1997 when it was broken by Tiger Woods.

Once asked about himself and his career during 1970, Nicklaus said, "I was playing good golf, but it really wasn't that big a deal to me one way or the other. And then my father passed away and I sort of realized he had certainly lived his life through my golf game. I really hadn't probably given him the best of that. So I sort of got myself back to work. So 1970 was an emotional one for me from that standpoint-it was a big boost." Perhaps this is true, as Jack became known as the "Record Setter," being the first golfer to win all four major tournaments twice in a career.

In 1974, the PGA Player of the Year was given to Nicklaus for the third time and he was among the first to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. In 1975, he won his fifth Masters and his fourth PGA Championship. ABC named him Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year. Again, at the top of the money list in 1976, he played what he liked to call, "hang-back-and-hope golf." In 1986, he won his sixth Masters-again and unbelievably was still going strong. His 1978 British Open win gave him a place in golf history where he won each major championship three times-a record finally tied by Tiger Woods in 2008. His Senior Tour wins include The Tradition (four times), the Senior Players Championship, and the US Senior Open. Along with his 100th career win (The Tradition) in 1996, he and his four sons and son-in-law had 299 courses open in 2005, an impressive 1% of all the courses in the world. Jack Nicklaus is The Golden Bear for record breaking, his playing style, and his off-the-course achievements and will remain one of golf's greatest players of all time.

By J. M. Garces

The province of Holgun, in the oriental part of the island, is considered a stronghold for the leisure industry in Cuba, supported by cultural, historic, and natural attractions mixed in perfect harmony.

A stripe of sand of 40 meters of wide and little more than thousand 300 of long encloses the most diverse attractions for recreation, with similar characteristics to other beaches of this province of the Cuban east; among the ones worth mentioning are Esmeralda and Pesquero.

Valleys and hills combine with unique vegetation and a fauna including the national bird Tocororo, woodpeckers, parrots, cateyes, macaws, jutas congas, the aboriginal manatee and even wild horses.

A more realistic story links the origins of Guardalavaca's name to the warning that emitted the natives before the arrival of the looters that came from the sea, where the shout of "Guard the Cow" (Guardalavaca) notified to all of the danger that represented.

Home of the main aboriginal settlements of Cuba, its beaches are of a blue turquoise that hypnotizes us with the smooth movement of their water. Guardalavaca defines nature, culture, history, relaxation, beach and recreation in a single name.

Barbecue How-Tos

By Ian Kleine

Ever wondered what a good barbie would be for a fair?

There are lots of things to think for a barbie. For one , you'd have to get the general consensus that the people involved in your "eat-out" would love the barbecue.

For one, offer variety. There are the meat lovers, and there are the vegens. You probably would have your share of people like this in your life. So when you have the time, go out shopping and have a few hands to bring in your goods. They could even choose what to buy, so that when the time comes for the barbecue, you'd have no hassles left to discuss whatsoever.

The second, is to decide when to start the grill. At least have one person man the grill while the others are out for fun and for sight-seeing. If this was a family trip, at least have dad or mum handle the grill. Or generally anyone who is more interested or tuned into the idea of grilling as fun rather than walking around and exploring the sights to see.

That person should be able to cook as well, unless you want to come back to a meal with nothing but blackened pieces of charcoal. Meat is generally the safest of the bunch, as it cooks long and is tough. Just avoid bringing in lean meat or anything that is rather expensive if the cook is a novice. Tough meat is much more harder to spoil when grilling.

Fish is in the consensus of a fast-grill type of food. And so are shrimps and prawns (which are usually found in cocktails). Lobster requires a grill-oven for nice cooking, and any other seafood should have it's own cooking process.

Go for the open areas so you wouldn't bother anyone with the smoke, and make sure to clear the grill of any live charcoal after use. Go for safety.

Holiday Rentals Spain

By reklicom

Are you planning a vacation holiday some time in the near future? If so, you might want to consider one of a number of hidden resorts which until recently few international travelers have ever heard about. These are cost-conscious mobile home communities which feature a lengthy list of amenities that are highly competitive with major hotel chains. While cost is a major consideration for most travelers, this is one of the attractive features associated with these new holiday resorts. But, price is not the only selling point that makes them attractive.

Self-catering vacations allow children the freedom to play. Excursions can be planned around their exercise and activity needs. Parents are free to relax knowing their children have ample opportunity to explore their rental villa without concerns of strangers.

I was amazed at the superior personal service, trans-portation, amenities and beautiful beach that was within a short walking distance. In short, if you are considering spending your holidays in Spain this year, then 'Camping Holiday Spain' from Paramount Places is well worth a look. Intense fun is waiting to be had for the whole family; both parents and children alike. All of this in a very safe and secure family environment.

Leading travel websites are reporting Spain has benefited greatly from the increase in British tourists.Surprising to many people is that Spain also attracts skiers.Spain's most successful ski resorts are in the Pyrenees Mountains. Many snow-loving Brits have booked ski holidays in Spain for the 2007 - 2008 seasons.

Holiday resorts for swingers and tailor made swinging holidays are becoming more and more popular as the concept of living the swingers lifestyle is gaining social acceptance and respectability.

Due to Spain having the second highest altitude in Europe, it is also the perfect holiday destination for those who enjoy winter sports such as skiing or snowboarding. There is a wide selection of ski resorts in the Pyrenees Mountains, Sierra Nevada and the Cantabrian Mountains.

The idea of vacationing abroad doesn't always bring thoughts of relaxation beside a pristine beach or casually hiking through a mountain range. Vacationers may believe they can only go to another country with a tour group or travel agency. This also presents the problems that arise with traveling on someone else's schedule. Other people decide when you eat or where you visit.

Spain has much more to offer than an excellent night life though. It presents a strong sense of its own identity ornamented with an astonishing religious history which has resulted in a country rich with breathtaking cathedrals and palaces, gorgeous rolling landscapes and a vibrant culture of art, dance, and outstanding architecture.

The size of your rental property depends entirely on your travel budget. Standard villas are available for smaller families or intimate groups. Large self-catering facilities are available to accommodate a large number of guests.

The Spanish swinger holiday resorts are generally on a much smaller scale than the Caribbean ones and there is far less in the way of laid on entertainment. Many British swingers do not see this as a disadvantage however, preferring to avoid the organised fun and games that is so popular with the U.S. swingers who holiday in the Caribbean. In Spain, the swinger holiday resorts are often nothing more than a large villa suitable for accommodating as few as four couples per holiday. Other resorts comprise of a group of similar villas sharing a swimming pool.

The Essential Needs for a Backpacking or Hiking Trip

By Shawn Stanley

Two of the most thrilling outdoor activities for individuals and families would have to be backpacking or hiking. When choosing an outdoor activity with such an element of the unknown it is important to prepare for every scenario before heading off on the backpacking or hiking trail. Backpacking or hiking requires supplies and essentials to make the event more safe and secure.

Protect yourself from the sun. When backpacking or hiking the sun is your deadliest force. From the skin to the eyes, the sun can wreak havoc on the body from every angle. Sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 should be used by every person in the backpacking or hiking team. The sunscreen should also be waterproof to fight off that sweat from the sun. The eyes too need to be protected and a pair or two of sunglasses is the perfect way to add that extra bit of protection.

Safety First. Many people forget about safety when backpacking or hiking, but there can be problems and when there are, a whistle can help. Depending on where you are backpacking or hiking, a whistle with no "pea" (the small ball in the center) may be the best choice. If the backpacking or hiking is taking place during cold months, the "pea" could freeze. Along those same lines, a plastic whistle will be sure to never stick to your lips in the cold.

Water, water and more water. Many beginning backpacking or hiking people think the water they need to take is always in the liquid form. But, that is not the best choice when trying to keep your pack light. Today there are many water filtration systems that can filter anything and everything from the water. These are perfect to use as a backup when the liquid of life has run out when backpacking or hiking.

Fire Starter. A fire is the center of warmth and food when backpacking or hiking. Bringing along a firestarter or some waterproof matches can mean a world of difference when stuck out overnight at a camp. Backpacking and hiking is supposed to be fun, but without fire the night can be long and cold.

First aid out of doors. A first aid kit is needed for every pack. Backpacking and hiking takes places in environments that can lead to cuts, bruises and other forms of injuries. A first aid kit in every backpack can help to ensure the safety and health of all backpacking and hiking team members. Within these first aid kits should also be a pocket knife and a pocket tool set.

Finding your way. When in an environment that is not native, there needs to be a way to stay on track with the trail. This is especially important just in case a member or two gets lost from the rest of the backpacking and hiking team. A compass and a map needs to be included in every pack. Today, there are even GPS locators that can be used when traveling through nature on foot.

Choosing backpacking or hiking as a sport is a great choice and a fun choice, especially when friends and family come along for the hike. When new to the sport, it is important to keep all of these items in every pack in order to keep the team safe and productive during the backpacking or hiking trip.

Temperature Changes in Clouds Create Rain

By Rob Carlton

Our atmosphere is filled with an invisible gas called water vapor. Most, in fact 90%, of the water that is in our atmosphere on Earth comes from the ocean. Ocean water is heated by the sun, and the warmest water evaporates into the warmest air. The warmer the air, the more water it can hold, but no matter what, there is a limit, and when the air becomes full of water vapor, the molecules change from a gas back to a liquid. This is called the saturation point. Weather changes can do much to cause the condensation of water vapor and the creation of clouds. When climate change such as a when a cold front pushes through, thunderstorms will often occur.

The dew point is the temperature that the water vapor has to reach in order to turn back into its liquid form. Condensation occurs when several molecules of water vapor attach themselves to what is called the condensation nuclei. Tiny particles of dust, salt and air pollutants act as these nuclei. When condensation is dense enough to be visible above the ground, it is called fog. Fog is actually a low lying cloud which can effect the current weather.

Cloud formation occurs when condensation happens in the atmosphere. There are high, mid and low level clouds that are made up water vapor, some of which, the higher it climbs will freeze into ice crystals. When the temperatures where the condensation is occurring is warm, or above the freezing mark, the water vapor turns to liquid.

Temperature change in the clouds will cause a change in the water vapor material and can cause an increase in condensation, an increase in vapor volume and a change back into liquid water. When the temperatures are below freezing, the water vapor may condense and become super cooled, but only change to liquid, or they may turn into ice crystals. Clouds need millions and millions of molecules of water vapor to come together so that they can form.

Air masses rise for three reasons. One, is the most visibly obvious, when an air mass meets a mountain, it is going to rise up and go over the mountain. There is actually a name for this rising air mass, orographic lifting. If the air that is moving over the mountain is moist enough, clouds will form. Two, when two fronts meet, the warmer of the two fronts will rise above the cooler front, and the moisture in the warm air will cause clouds.

The third reason air masses rise is when convection occurs. The Earth's surface is heated by the sun, the warm air rises up to their dew point and again cause clouds. Conditions are much more stable when warm air lies on top of the cooler air. The more an air mass rises, the more unstable the air is going to be.
